A few days ago, I listened to a beautiful song written back in the
1950's. Maybe you too remember this lovely melody and lyrics written
by Buddy Holly:
Just
you know why... why you and I... will by and by... know true love
ways.
Sometimes
we'll sigh... sometimes we'll cry...
And
we'll know why... just you and I... know true love ways.
Throughout
the days... our true love ways...
Will
bring us joys to share... with those who really care.
Sometimes
we'll sigh... sometimes we'll cry...
And
we'll know why... just you and I... know true love ways.
Deep
inside, everyone longs for TRUE LOVE WAYS! The desire has been
placed inside of us by our Creator, and the longing is not fully
satisfied until we encounter TRUE LOVE. Only after receiving and
experiencing TRUE LOVE can we then give TRUE LOVE to others!
"But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us."
(Romans
5:8)
"Whoever
does not love does not know God, because God is love."
(1
John 4:8)
Hollywood's
kind of love requires beauty, talent, wealth, a certain size, a
perfect personality, no flaws... then and only then, do you deserve
LOVE. Their movies have preached this message over and over, and all
too often it has been believed, especially by the young. Self hatred
develops if an individual buys into this propaganda. Too many
perceive they are not worthy of Love.
Without
TRUE LOVE (the agape Love of God) we will always be picking
at ourselves and others. There's no way to contain, experience,
understand or give... "UNCONDITIONAL LOVE" apart from the
source of TRUE LOVE.
"But
love [agape] your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without
expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and
you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the
ungrateful and wicked."
(Luke
6:35)
"For
by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises,
so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust."
(2
Peter 1:4)
"Teacher,
which is the great commandment in the Law?" And He said to him,
"'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' This is the great and
foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR
NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' On these two commandments depend the whole
Law and the Prophets."
(Matthew
22:36-40)
A
wrong concept or kind of love motivates one to achieve at any cost,
and to satisfy self-centered desires. This carnal love can only
bring inside and outside pressures and the mind will experience
constant turmoil.
The
Bible warns us about loving the wrong things:
"For
the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager
for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with
many griefs."
(1
Timothy 6:10)
"People
will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud,
abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (2
Timothy 3:2) treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God" (2
Timothy 3:4)
"Rather
he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is
self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined."
(Titus
1:8)
"Keep
on loving each other as brothers." (Hebrews
13:1)
"Now
that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you
have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from
the heart." (1
Peter 1:22)
"Finally,
all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love
as brothers, be compassionate and humble."
(1
Peter 3:8)
"If
you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even
'sinners' love those who love them." (Luke
6:32)
"A
new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so
you must love one another."
(John
13:34)
"By
this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one
another." (John 13:35)
I don't know if the following story is true or not but the moral
point it makes is valuable. It certainly points out how frail human
love is when conditions change. The story goes like this:
There
was a blind girl who hated herself just because she is blind. She
hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He’s always there for
her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry
her boyfriend.
One
day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she can see
everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “Now
that you can see the world, will you marry me?” The girl was
shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused
to marry him.
Her
boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her
saying. “Just take good care of my eyes, dear.”
TRUE LOVE is the only kind of love that makes life worth living. If
you've never experienced God's love, I strongly encourage you to
seek to know your Heavenly Father in a personal way. He is as close
as a prayer, or time of meditation in His Word.
Knowing TRUE LOVE will influence you to discontinue wrong habits,
see life with new eyesight, and love others unconditionally. Since
it is so easy to fall into wrong kinds of love and a selfish way of
thinking, maybe reading through this list will be helpful:
1.
Today before you think of saying an unkind word – Think of someone
who can’t speak.
2.
Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of
someone who has absolutely nothing to eat.
3.
Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone
who’s crying for a companion.
4.
Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went
too early to heaven/hell.
5.
Before you complain about your children – Think of someone who
desires children but they’re barren.
6.
Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or
sweep – Think of the people who are living in the streets.
7.
Before whining about the distance you drive – Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.
8.
When you are tired of your job and find yourself complaining –
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had
your job.
9.
Before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another –
Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one
maker.
10.
When depressing thoughts try to get you down – Put a smile on your
face and remind yourself that you’re still alive and well able,
with the help of God, to accomplish something great with your
remaining days. Then think of the many ways you can be a blessing to
someone else.
It's
time for true Christians to show the world TRUE LOVE WAYS!
SOMETHING
TO THINK ABOUT: Life is only worth living when you have met
"LOVE" face to face. Love will grow if you give it away!
